Individual Note
Cordelia Maria born at Killinure House, Co. Westmeath, on 27th February 1822. She married on 31st March 1864 General Sir Charles Trollope. His first wife Frances Lord died in 1862 and they had three children. Cordelia had one child born in 1866, a daughter Elizabeth Wilhelmina (known as Cousin Betsy). Betsy married Capt. Edmond Bower in1892 and they had two daughters Denise born 1896 died 1980 and Delia who became a nun. Denise Married Claude Hollies in 1944 but they had no issue. Because they had no heirs, Denise Hollies kept in touch with J.P.Murray and gave several family papers and possessions to him. Betsy also kept in touch and gave several of the family miniatures to Elizabeth Murray. Capt. Bower was very interested in family history and labelled many of the miniatures as well as doing research.
Cordelia was known in the family as 'Aunt Delia' and she went to live with her Aunt William Mina (Lady Douglas) in Grosvenor Square . Because they were close she named her own daughter after her Aunt and when her Aunt died she was left the Grosvenor Square property. She died at 21 Grosvenor Square on 3rd December 1909 and was buried in the Trollope family vault at Liffington.
Despite Cordelia's marriage in 1892 (information from within the family), she was still referred to as Lady Cordelia M Trollope in the 1901 census, and living in Hanover Square.
